What We Do

Picture

Outreach!

Wayside Quilting Guild members come together to make quilts to donate. We also work independently to do the same! Here are some of the quilts that have been donated recently !

Past Outreach Sessions

Location
First Baptist Church of Sudbury

162 Landham Rd, Sudbury
We gather twice a year to make quilts for those in need.  These are fun days full of learning and laughter.  It is a great event for getting to know people better and introducing crafty friends to the guild.
  • Anyone with basic sewing skills and the desire to help is welcome
  • Admission is free
You don't have to attend a sewing day in order to donate a quilt.  If you make one at home, bring it to the next guild meeting and give it to Susan or Lu Linda, the Outreach Co-Chairs.

If you would like to suggest a charity to support or have materials to donate, you can reach the Outreach Chairs at outreach@waysidequilters.org

The Outreach team provides:
  • fabric
  • batting
  • patterns
  • kits
  • irons/ironing boards
  • light refreshments
Please bring:
  • Sewing machine
  • Neutral thread
  • Scissors, pins
  • Additional lighting (recommended)
  • Extension cord (recommended)
  • Mug (recommended)

On the 3rd Saturday of the month (unless otherwise noted), we get together virtually for Sew Happy, our take on the classic sewing circle.  It's a chance to enjoy each other's company, share tips, and get help when we're stuck.  Most people bring their current quilt, but mending and knitting have been seen there too.

Caring Heart Pillows

Caring Heart Pillows are made and kept on hand for giving to members during difficult times - usually involving illness or bereavement.  If you would like to make one at home, or know one someone in the guild who might need one, please contact Marianne Hatton or Jane Harris for a kit or instructions.   We usually devote our February meeting to making these pillows together, weather permitting.

A Well Traveled Quilt

In early 2017 the guild received an email regarding one of our outreach quilts.
Hello from Nova Scotia.
Today I bought a quilt saying made by Wayside Quilters -2010-.
It's just beautiful and I know many hours were lovingly spent making it.  I will treasure it. Just wanted to share.
